Where you been?

I’ve been away.
I’ve been away and I’ve missed you!

Several years ago I wrote a post about laying out a path that leads to to Dreams Achieved. The idea was that if you can envision where you want to be in five years, then you can lay out and enact a plan that actualizes your dream. Maybe it’s being a Certified Teacher, or a Boutique Owner, or a Freelance Writer. Whatever your dream, put it in your sights, and take the steps that will lead you there – that’s the idea. (You can read the original post here, and it comes with a great daiquiri recipe that pairs nicely with dreaming big.)

In that same post, I said that I wanted to publish a book in the next five years though it seemed far-reaching at the time: ” . . . this dream seems too daunting to even be possible. But of course it’s possible. Many people before me have written books, and many people before me have been published. Now, I may not have a book published in five years, but I know where I’m headed. And it just may happen, too.”

And it is happening!

This fall, God willing, my first book will hit the shelves. It’s called Global Style Jewelry. It’s packed with cool jewelry designs inspired by different design traditions from around the globe, and reads like a page out of a jewelry-maker’s travelogue. Africa, Latin America, Europe, Asia and India: the pieces are dynamic and diverse, but all made in my style. I think it’s going to be wonderful! And as soon as it’s available for pre-order on Amazon, you’ll be the first to know.

Writing my first book was an educational experience, as I trekked a steep learning curve the whole time. Global Style Jewelry has been my high-maintenance baby for the last eighteen months and really, I don’t have a lot to show for the rest of my life. I sorta fed my family and kept house, but not very well.

So now I’m back. I’m back to blogging, back to designing, back to making. And I would love to hear what you’ve been up to while I’ve been a deadbeat over here. Send me pics of your latest projects and tell me how you’ve been. I would love to hear from you! And be sure to keep up with me and what I’m doing on :
