Itanos Summer Scarf Crochet Pattern

Absolutely made for summer vacations, this drapey scarf is a perfectly-packable, and always-chic accessory. I wanted to design a piece that gives a nod to the extra fabric trend of drape-front vests, but with less fabric and more versatility. Hello, summer!

For this easy-going piece, I used a mercerized cotton yarn and designed a simple pattern that reminds me of a Greek fishing net. Just throw this scarf in your beach bag and take your cami from day to (clubbing all) night. And this pattern is just as laid-back as the piece: perfect for summer crocheting!

Special thanks to Magen who inspired this easy, wearable summer scarf.

Dimensions: 52″ long, 9″ wide.

Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Provence (100% Mercerized Egyptian Cotton, 205 yards [186 meters] /100 grams): 2609 Parchment (discontinued), 2 skeins. If you cannot find Provence by CEY, a great substitute would be Spa by Caron Naturally, or another dk-weight yarn. (I used 141 grams for my scarf.)

Hook: P/10.00mm (large!)

Gauge: 7 sts/4″. An important note about gauge if you care: to adjust gauge, I would usually recommend going up or down a hook size. But because of the odd hook size (the next larger Q size hook is huge and I don’t think an O size hook even exists), simply chain on more or less to your foundation row to achieve the same scarf dimensions given here; don’t mess with adjusting gauge.

Notions: tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Foundation row: ch 101. Turn.

Row 1: starting in second ch from hook, sc across (100 sts). ch 2, turn.

Row 2: starting in third ch from hook, dc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 3 : starting in second ch from hook, sc across, ch 3, turn.

Row 4: starting in fourth ch from hook, tc across, ch 1, turn.

Repeat rows 1-4 five times.

Sc last row.

Finishing: Break yarn and weave in ends with tapestry needle.
