I ♥ India

I’ve heard that in the Indian town of Jodhpur, so many of the houses are painted a bright, periwinkle blue that the whole town looks blue from the hills above. Did I need to hear this? Did I need another reason to pine for a tour through India?

No.

India captured my imagination long ago. I think it’s the idea of its saturated colors bathed in hot, golden sunlight that really excites my wanderlust. Where I live, four seasons of corn fields stretch under blue sky. Truly, it’s beautiful, but it’s not exotic at all. There are no spice markets here. No electrically colored saris woven with gold, no mango groves, no bright Diwali lanterns.

And if this is possible: I think the sun shines brighter there.

Lately, my jewelry has been reflecting my overtures of India-love. I’ve been really hot on warm brass and sandalwood. Rich brass that has a mellow glow, not a precious gleam like gold. And anything that has an intricate mendhi-like pattern: paisleys and lotus laurels. Ahh!
